Betty White, the original Golden Girl and the oldest woman to host Saturday Night Live, turns 98 today. Over the course of her career, she has earned 24 Emmy nominations and won eight.
She's still as active and funny as ever, even after 75 years in the industry. Best known for her role as Rose Nylund in the Golden Girls, she was a regular in The Mary Tyler Moore Showand Hot in Cleveland along with memorable appearances in shows like Mama’s Family and That ‘70s Show. She credited her lifetime of happiness that time to her nature as a “cockeyed optimist.”
“I know it sounds corny, but I try to see the funny side and the upside, not the downside. I get bored with people who complain about this or that. It’s such a waste of time.”
