Brazil's statue of Christ the Redeemer lights up with flags of countries affected by the pandemic

Rio de Janeiro's archbishop Orani João Tempesta held mass at the landmark and the church urged people to pray for the sick all over the world.

One of the most iconic statues in the world has become a message of peace, solidarity, and support for a planet afflicted by a dangerous pandemic. The statue of Christ the Redeemer, which overlooks the city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, has been lit up with the flags of all the nations affected by the coronavirus.
