CNN news anchor Chris Cuomo has announced on Twitter that he has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
"In these difficult times that seem to get more difficult and complicated by the day, I just found out that I am positive for coronavirus,"
"I have been exposed to people in recent days who have subsequently tested positive and I had fevers, chills and shortness of breath," he wrote. "I just hope I didn't give it to the kids and Cristina. That would make me feel worse than this illness!"
"This virus is the great equalizer," Governer Andrew Cuomo said in a statement. "My brother, Chris, is positive for coronavirus. Found out this morning."
The two brothers spoke by phone earlier on Tuesday. "Now he's quarantined in the basement," the governor said. "But he's funny as hell, he says to me, 'Even the dogs won't come downstairs.'"
"He's an essential worker, a member of the press, you go out there, the chance you get infected is very high.
"I spoke to him this morning He's just worried about his wife and his kids. You see Chris, he has a show on at night, but you just see one dimension, you see a person in his job, and in his job he's combative and argumentative and pushing people, but that's his job that's not who he really is. He's a really sweet and beautiful guy, and he's my best friend," the governor said.
