After the UK government placed an order for 10,000 new ventilators with Dyson manufacturing, the company's team of engineers designed a brand new ventilator type, named "CoVent," that they are beginning production. The ventilator is designed specifically to help with symptoms related to the disease.
"A ventilator supports a patient who is no longer able to maintain their own airways, but sadly there is currently a significant shortage, both in the UK and other countries around the world," Dyson wrote in a letter that he shared with his employees. "This new device can be manufactured quickly, efficiently and at volume."
"The core challenge was how to design and deliver a new, sophisticated medical product in volume and in an extremely short space of time," he added. "The race is now on to get it into production."
Dyson is known for vacuum cleaners and hand dryers. James Dyson, the founder of the company, is reported to be worth $10 billion.
