One of the biggest surprises of DC's online FanDome convention was the early footage of James Gunn's new Suicide Squad film. A soft reboot of the kinda awful 2016 edge lord version of the story, the film tells the tale of Task Force X, a team of imprisoned supervillains brought together by spymaster Amanda Waller. Implanted with tiny bombs in their brain that will explode if they get out of line, the team is sent on suicide missions too dark for the heroes of the DC universe.
Beloved psychotic clown Harley Quinn returns, played by the inimitable Margot Robbie, and she's joined by Nathan Fillion, Idris Elba, Pete Davidson, Jai Courtney, and others return as a colorful cast of reluctant heroes. They even got Polka Dot Man in there. It's all directed by James Gunn, who brought the Guardians of the Galaxy to life.
You can watch the teaser footage and the cast intros. They're pretty great.
