The last few years have seen some incredible horror movies, from socially conscious terror tales to bloody monsters stalking the innocents. Spiral: From The Book of Saw

The Saw films changed the way horror films dealt with extreme subjects during the era of American black site torture camps. Visceral and violent, the films scared the crap out of a generation numbed by war.

The story continues in this upcoming film. From the official summary:

Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city's gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer's morbid game.

Antlers

The new film from Channel Zero creator Nic Antosca promises to be a unique and terrifying take on monsters and madmen. Working off his short story The Quiet Boy, this frightening flick promises scares.

From the synopsis:

In ANTLERS, a small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff, discover that a young student (Jeremy T. Thomas) is harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences.

Candyman

Director Nia DaCosta is bringing the iconic monster Candyman back to life with executive producer Jordan Peele. It's actually a sequel to the original film, with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars as Anthony McCoy, the infant that Helen Lyle saved decades ago by sacrificing herself.

The Cabrini-Green neighbourhood, which was haunted by the Candyman, has become unrecognisable due to gentrification. Anthony, now an artist, and his girlfriend move into a Cabrini condo and he starts exploring the legend of the Candyman in his art, stirring the evil that had remained dormant for years.

We dare you to say his name five times.

Antebellum

Superstar musician and actress Janelle Monáe stars in this unsettling social horror film. Details have been limited so far, but the early trailers evoke images of slavery and human bondage in one of the darkest chapters in American history.

From the synopsis:

A successful author finds herself in a horrifying reality and must figure out the mystery behind it before it is too late.

A Quiet Place 2

One of the big surprise hits of the last few years was the The Quiet Place, a scary creature feature from husband and wife team John Krasinski and Emily Blunt about a world haunted by monsters with hypersensitive hearing. The sequel sees the family in torment with new threats emerging in the silence surrounding them.

From the Synopsis:

The Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.
